Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT) was established over 100 years ago in 1905. In 2022, NMIT joined the national government institute, Te Pukenga – New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology (NZIST). NZIST is a public institution funded by the New Zealand government and all qualifications are approved by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). NZIST maintains more than 60 campuses throughout every region of New Zealand, with more than 250,000 students enrolled. NMIT’s main campus is located in Nelson New Zealand, the centre of New Zealand. Nelson has a new airport to service the thriving business and tourism industries of the region, the airport is the fourth busiest in New Zealand.
